The Soul-filled Space

The space we occupy has a direct and powerful influence on our mood, and we need to understand the psychological effects that our space has on us.
Now let's get to the fun part! Yes, the part where I give my two cents, on how to create your soul-filled sanctuary;

                    Live with what you love
Recognise and own your style- why keep something around if it's not functional? does not bring good memories or you don't love it enough.
The key to a soul-filled space is owning your style, just like you owned your fashion style, you should own your space style too. are you a minimalist? or a maximalist? Do you enjoy mixing things up, which by the way makes you eclectic, there are so many interior styles, you just have to recognise the one that compliments your personality and go for it.

Styling your space should be about who you are, what you love, and what you can live with, not what your best friend or neighbours love.
The key to curating a soulful space is just remaining true to yourself, and your style.
As a lover of art, and a part-time artist myself, I definitely cannot imagine living or working in a space without artwork, no matter how remotely small or big.

                                Declutter
Less is more, we need to learn how to let go of some things that no longer serve us. Believe me, it's a freeing experience.

                     Taking it personally
Add some personal elements to your space, some sort of accomplishments that brings good memories, and help you realize you are on the right path, that you are not doing so bad.
These personal touches help us to remember how far we have come.
I displayed the magazine I was featured in for IDAN guide 2021, seeing myself with so many amazing and talented people in the design industry, hell I haven't even achieved half of what they have, but seeing my picture there, I know I too will be great one day, it keeps me motivated and focused every time I get a glimpse of the magazine, which is about 200 times or more per day.
So do hang up that personal element, it subconsciously feeds our minds and thoughts with positivity.

                            Plant is giving
Plants are giving, plants are great. who doesn't love mother nature after all?
There is no wrong in keeping a living plant, which by the way is so beneficial to our well-being. no matter how small or big, just make sure to get the suitable ones for your space.

                             Colour it right
Colour psychology is a really big deal, graphics designers can testify to this. why do you think we find Coke and Pepsi so appealing? Personally, it's because of their colour branding.
Know the colours that improve your mood, or make you psyched and happy, and try to incorporate them into your space.

I am not asking that you paint your wall blood red, shocking pink, or mellow yellow.
However, you can still incorporate the colours you love into your space without turning it into a colour jungle.
Of course, if you want to paint your room red, if you love it then go ahead, but hey! As an interior stylist, I wouldn't recommend it. Just because you like a particular colour doesn't mean it is good for your psychological well-being.

Although there are about a hundred shades of your favourite colour, if you still want to paint your room in a colour, that you so love, you can opt for the lighter shades of the colour.
Incorporate your favourite colours into your space as an accent, instead of painting your entire space pink, because your favourite colour is pink, you can just have a pink sofa, or a pink-inspired artwork, throw pillows, or a pink mug would do.
