Design: zen for a productive workspace

We all like the idea of working from home. I mean the joy of not having to deal with the infuriating city traffic, and no risks of running into that annoying workmate, no offence Vivian!

Right before the coronavirus outbreak and then lock-down, no one thought it was quite possible to work from anywhere that is not an out-of-home office. we assumed only freelancers and entrepreneurs can enjoy the luxury of working from home.
Shockingly we've finally discovered that it is quite possible to still run your million-dollar company from the comfort of your home!

However, working from home is not always such an easy experience, as you may find it quite tricky in separating your workspace from your personal space. You may get too comfortable and develop a lackadaisical attitude towards work. Eventually, meeting work deadlines will become a big hassle, just because you are distracted and unmotivated.
Even in the tiniest space, you can always create a small nook for your work-related tasks.
Create your perfect home-office nook that will boost productivity and creativity with these tips;

Invest in an ergonomic desk and chair
Contrary to the belief that you can work from the comfort of your bed, this is not advisable. Start cultivating extraordinary work habits by investing in high-quality ergonomic task desks and chairs. To give a sense of professionalism, boost comfort, and the motivation you need to get work done.

                      Add your personal touch
Unlike a typical out-of-home offices, where you can't bring your treasured items, you can add some intimate details to your home office nooks, that will serve as a source of motivation while you do your work.

These could be collections of some of your favourite books, cool artwork, novelty mugs, quirky objet d'art, snapshots of places you have been to or would love to visit, framed photos of your loved ones, trophies and awards, or something of sentimental value that makes you feel good. Just make sure it doesn't cause distractions, and a casual glance at them will put a smile on your face and boost your mood.

                    Add something healthy
Music, Plants, Diffusers, Scented candles that help boost focus and creativity(coffee, lemon, lavender, cinnamon etc), and Task lights(with dimmer switches) are great ways to help strengthen your mental cognitive while you work.

                  Something to munch or sip
Crackers, Nuts, Sweets, Tea, Coffee or your favourite flavoured juice, just make sure it's healthy and non-alcoholic. Personally, my favourite work munch and sip is Pringles and Ribena!
Caution Tips- be extra careful when taking liquid beverages to your workspace, you don't want to end up spilling them on your computer or important documents.
It's best to stick to dry foods and bottled beverages.

                         Clear the Clutter
Our brain likes order and a constant visual reminder of disorganisation can reduce our ability to focus. Get organised with filers, folders, mood boards, calendars, stationery holders, bookshelves, clocks and timers.
Caution Tips- Take a 15-20 minutes break between a few hours of work to rest your brain and relax your mind.
