Design: how to create a restful bedroom

Do you ever find yourself laying in bed for hours every night before you can finally get any sleep? Many of us experience this frustrating moment when it's time to retire after a long day.
This may be due to insomnia, stress, anxiety, or proof that your bedroom isn't designed or styled in a way to support restful sleep.
It can be quite frustrating, especially if you've had a long day and you desperately need a good sleep
The bedroom is the most loved space in our home. No surprises there, as this is where we get to relax our minds and rest our heads.

One should be intentional with the way it is styled and organized, and also strive to make it an area where falling asleep and having a meaningful conversation(with a partner)will be easy.
Steps in achieving this include;

                        Do away with clutter
Clear all clothing and unnecessary items from view. No matter how small your bedroom space is, you should always be mindful of clutters.
Style tips- keep your room organized by making the most of the different storage options available for the size of your room and your budget.


                       Fengshui your bedroom 
Fengshui is a Chinese practice used to harmonize an individual with their surrounding.
I know most of us don't believe in Fengshui but for someone who has always experienced difficulty falling asleep, I have found Fengshui to have been helpful.
Don't get me wrong some people will fall asleep without even applying the Fengshui bed positioning, but for those who can not, it wouldn't hurt to try.

    
 Fengshui Tips- 
 • Opt for a bed with a headboard.
 • Avoid positioning your bed in line with the door.
 • Limit the use of technology in your bedroom. 
 • Use restful Artwork.
 • Clear clusters from under the bed.


                                 Fragrance
Use Room spray and Diffusers with aromas that help enhance restful sleep.

                      Get cozy with the pillows

Two or three pillows are no longer ample for a cozy bedroom, go crazy with your pillows. There are about ten ways you can use them, from cuddling to resting your back and feet.



                              Giving a sheet
Your choice of bedspread can make or break your bedroom. Quality fabric bedsheets will help stimulates the hormone oxytocin, which makes us feel calm and peaceful.
The best kind of Bedsheets which are also known to aid good and quality sleep are made from 100% silk or cotton. Stay clear of synthetic fabric as much as you can.

Style tips- Clean sheets are a must, wash your sheet at least once per week.


                           Light it Up or Down
Make use of Cozy ambient lights. The lighting in your room should help promote good sleep. A bad light choice can make u detest your bedroom. Avoid bright lights when trying to get some rest, only use them minimally and when necessary. 

Use bedside lamps, ambient light,t or warm glow floor lamps, to avoid keeping your room in total darkness when it's time to sleep, not everyone likes to sleep in a pitch dark room.


                        Add some personality
Accessorize with the things that represent who you are and what you love. soothing whimsical artwork, black and white photography, or nature-inspired paintings, also pop a copy of your favorite book somewhere in the room.

Style tips- styling or accessorizing a bedroom should be done minimally.
