Everyone! meet thefirst Black winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize Diebedo Francis Kere.
Diébédo Francis Kéré is a world renounced African architect born April 10, 1965, in Gando, Burkina Faso.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize is an American award presented annually "to honour a living architect" whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.

Diébédo Francis Kéré had already received numerous accolades in his field, including the Aga khan Award (2004), Global Holcim Awards for sustainable construction and the Thomas Jefferson medal.

Many of his projects are mostly sustainable, using locally sourced materials and manpower to construct his vernacular architecture designs. Some of his works can be found in major African countries such as Sudan, Togo, Mali, Kenya, Burkina Faso, and Mozambique. As well as in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.


He studied at the Technical University of Berlin. Since 1985, he has been living in Berlin, Germany, where he set up Kéré Architecture.
