Art: The Yoruba beaded chair

The Yoruba beaded chair is a Handmade African lounge and occasional chair made by the Yoruba artisans of Western Nigeria. Originally locally made for the Yoruba tribe Kings and Queens, but soon became prevalent as a statement furniture piece all around the world. The Yoruba chair is hand embellished with thousands of tiny glass seed beads applied to fabric covers which are then stitched or glued onto the chair frame.

It takes about 12 weeks or more to make a single piece of this eclectic and colorful chair, as there are hundreds of thousands of beads to be hand-stitched to just a single chair.
Now modernized and widely used all over the world as a unique statement piece in spaces by interior designers and stylists as well as people who appreciate travel-homes furniture.

Their designs and symbols convey wealth, power, strength, and wisdom. It’s more than a statement piece of furniture or an art piece. It's a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
The Yoruba beaded chair is priced at £2,000-5000 pounds an equivalent of over 1,000,000- 2,500,000 million naira.
